Question by kingdomheartsbabie: How to quote something that is already quoted?
I’m writing out notecards for a research paper I have to write. I have this source that directly quotes something from someone else that I want to use. I’m not going to directly quote it; I’m going to paraphrase it. How do I cite it, both in works cited and in-text? Here is the chunk that I want to use:

Following the lead given by Jacobs, Benjamin Lipscombe and Christopher Stewart argue, in “Magic, Science, and the Ethics of Technology,” that the categories of bad and evil apply as much to technology as to magic. “This is not merely a matter of ruling out bad ‘uses’ of essentially neutral powers. The Unforgivable Curses aren’t simply hurtful uses of essentially neutral powers. They are bad spells. The basic implication of Rowling’s ethic contrast sharply with the conventional piety that ‘technologies are neutral between our possible uses of them, and what we must do is use them well; no kind of power should be rejected by people outright’ ” (Lipscombe and Stewart, 2005: 90). Just because a power exists, does not make it right to use it (Duriez 187).

How do I cite the part taken from Lipscombe and Stewart and put into Duriez, the person who wrote the article I’m using?

You could go two routes here:

1) Use both sources (kind of). If you really like Duriez’s comments about the block quote then go this route.
In-text: In Duriez’s {Field Guide to Harry Potter}, he analyzes the debate between Lipscombe and Stewart about [paraphrase] and concludes that [paraphrase] (Duriez 187).
Works Cited: Duriez, Colin. {Field Guide to Harry Potter}. Downers Grove, IL: IVP, 2007. Print.

(I’m not sure about the city or publisher, depends on what book edition you’re actually using).

2) Use one source. Most of that text is from {Magic, Science, and the Ethics of Technology} so just analyze that source and forget about Duriez.
In-text: In the book {Magic, Science, and the Ethics of Technology}, Lipscombe and Stewart argue that [paraphrase, explain your opinion of the paraphrase afterwards or in the next sentence] (Lipscombe and Stewart 90).
